T minus 16 and counting!

16 hours, 16 hours, 16 hours! I have been counting down for the past few days and I'm about to go nuts! I really hope this little one is not stubborn tomorrow morning and allows us to sneak a peak. Very unlikely because Mike, Zachary and I all three are very stubborn. We didn't have a problem when we found out Zachary was a little boy, he was playing with himself (I can't believe boys even do it in the womb!)

I haven't been 1/2 as moody as I was when I was pregnant with Zachary and I haven't been as hungry either. Maybe it's because I'm trying to be more aware of my eating and my actions this time. I'm not sure.

I'm scared to go in tomorrow with Mike and Zachary in the room and have the technician tell me there is something wrong. For that reason I might ask them to stand outside the door just for her to do a quick check to tell me it's alright and to hear the h/b and then ask her to let the boys in. I couldn't bear to have Zachary witness a Mommy meltdown if there would be bad news. I will be 19 weeks 3 days tomorrow and that is the exact age my cousin's triplets were when they were born prematurely. Because of that I almost called to reschedule for an earlier or later date. I told myself their situation was different, everything will be alright.

And speaking of my cousins, I feel helpless. I don't think I've done everything I could do to let them know how much I care about them and how much my heart breaks for their little girls in heaven. I sent emails and sent flowers and that's it. I honestly don't know what to do right now because I'm sitting here pregnant and I really doubt they want to hear from me. If I were in their situation I wouldn't want to. They are making their blog password protected and right now that's the only way I know how to reach out to them. It's none of my business what they do or how they do it, it's their lives and they need to do what they can in order to properly heal and to move on.

I'll make sure I post the BIG NEWS tomorrow when I get to work!

Happy Valentine's Day

I had a doctors appointment this morning to report my blood sugar levels the past 2 weeks. I'm in the clear, my doctor said my levels were good because they always go back down to the safe level and for me not to worry (at least right now) about GD. Phew!

I was also told that Mike and I have the ability to pick our baby's birthday. He told me to check the calendar and we can schedule a c-section between July 11 and the 21st. Not only do we get to pick the date, we also get to pick the doctor for the delivery. It all seems so real!

The baby's heart beat was 160 this morning, still remaining in the 160's - and I am still praying PINK!!

Mike, Zachary and I did our Valentine's Day stuff last night since Mike has to work this evening. Zachary will be my dinner date.

That's all until Feb 28 - KEEP PRAYING PINK!!!!

I love getting updates from www.i-ampregnant.com

16 Weeks

Dates and numbers:

There are 166 days until your due date on July 21, 2008.
You are 114 days pregnant.
You are 3.7 months pregnant.
You are in your 4th month of pregnancy. (huh?)
Your 1st trimester: October 15, 2007 to January 13, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: January 14, 2008 to April 27, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: April 28, 2008 to July 21, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
Saying hello at 16 weeksAt this point of your pregnancy, your baby is approximately 4.3 to 4.6 inches long and weighs 2.8 ounces. Not only is your baby growing, your uterus and placenta continue to grow to accomodate the growing baby inside of you! Just six weeks ago, your uterus weighed about 5 ounces. This week it now weighs 8.75 ounces! The amniotic fluid that surrounds the baby is increasing and there is about 7.5 ounces of fluid. You will easily be able to feel your uterus approximately three inches below your navel.

This is an important week for testing and you will most likely ahve an AFP test done. This is a harmless blood test that is done to detect abnormalities such as Down's syndrome or spina bifida. This is a non-invasive test and it carries no risk to your developing baby. Most doctors will offer the test, but in most cases it is completely optional.

Your milk glands start production at this time and this causes some tenderness and swelling in early pregnancy. Your veins will become more visible because there is an increaed amount of blood flowing to the breasts.

Five and a half inches tall and only six ounces in weight. The child can grasp with his hands, kick, or even somersault.

At this time, your baby is holding her head erect. Because her muscles are developing, she can make some faces now. Your baby is able to squint, frown and open its mouth. There is enough calcium in the bones that they will show up on an x-ray. Your baby's fingernails are well formed now and the legs are longer than the arms. Because your baby is moving well now, you may begin to feel his movements! Some women say that the early movements feel like gas bubbles or a slight flutter. If you have not yet felt the baby move, don't worry. Fetal movements are usually felt between the 16th and 20th week of pregnancy.

You may feel your heart beating 'louder'. This is because there is a lot more blood in your body than normal. (about 20-25% more)

Life is so unfair!

This past weekend my cousin's wife delivered their triplet girls at a tender age of 19 1/2 weeks - too early for survival. His wife had to fight for her life in order to survive the ordeal. They have been through enough - enough! They have been fighting for children for over 3 years and every positive step they take they are kicked back on their asses. They are good people who very much deserve to be parents, I don't understand why they keep having to deal with tragedy after tragedy.

To me it seems unfair that God would allow people who have no care in the world to be able to mother and father children. And then you have couples like my cousin and his wife who put their entire heart and soul into their commitment to have children yet they keep turning up empty handed. I know some will say, it's just God's way. Well, why is it like that? Why does he pick the good people to punish? They have been through enough and deserve a loving family just like the rest of us do.

And I sit here 16 weeks pregnant today feeling selfish and guilty that I am having my second child and they do not have one child to go home to to love. Will they ever know the true feeling of loving a child and being a parent? I pray for them each and every day that they will get their miracle and they will become the wonderful parents that we all know they already are.

Before you go to bed tonight, or whenever you say your prayers - please say a prayer for my cousin, his wife. Please send them your strength to get through this tough situation and give her the strength to physically heal from all of the trauma her body has endured over the past few months - especially this past weekend. Pray that one day, God will grant them their miracle of becoming parents and allowing them to feel the love for their child that some of us take for granted.
