I'm so sorry that it's been almost 2 months since I've provided you all with an update.
Our summer has been busy and we haven't gotten done anything that we wanted to (painting, organizing, etc.) Zachary is playing t-ball again. The season ends this week. We've been on a mini-vacation to Cincinnati for a few days. It was very nice to get way and I only wish it could have been longer.
Benjamin celebrated his first birthday almost 2 weeks ago. He's still hasn't taken off walking but is taking random steps when he feels like it. I would say that he's going to be walking by the end of August. He's had a double ear infection and thrush this summer. We are having a hard time getting rid of his thrush, it doesn't want to go away. He weighs 22 lbs and is 30 inches long. We've started him on some whole milk and are working on getting rid of the formula. I think once the formula can is empty we just won't buy anymore. He seems to be doing well with the milk. The bottles are still here, but not as many as he used to have. Morning, one during the day and night. The rest he has sippy cups. We continue to introduce different foods to him and he hasn't eaten baby food in a few weeks. Ben loves bath time and really really loves his big brother Zachary. He wouldn't know what to do if he didn't have Zachary around his eyes light up and he claps his hands when he sees him. It is so cute!
Zachary is doing well. He's had strep throat this summer. He has one front tooth that is hanging by a thread and he refuses to let anyone pull it, including the dentist. He went last week to get his teeth cleaned and made them clean around his loose tooth. I've tried but have given up, it will come out when it's ready the other ones have. We are still trying to work on him riding a bike without training wheels and also getting him to read. He is being very stubborn for both. I am out of ideas for reading, we've tried EVERYTHING. And he just fights us and I get frustrated and then he does also. Any ideas anyone might have I would appreciate! We've done flash cards, story time, dry erase board, sight words, color words, number words, writing our own stories, car time where we spell a word and he tells us what it is or we quiz him on spelling his sight words (is, at, the, are, can, in, it, up, no, yes, and) or we work on words with the same ending, at...bat, cat, fat, hat, mat, pat, rat, sat, tat. But he is shutting down and refuses to look or do anything. Honestly it's starting to make me feel like a really bad parent. He's going into FIRST grade and he refuses to read. But he tells us he can do it he just doesn't want us to know. Then when we try to explain to him how important and fun reading is he again shuts down. Help, please if you have suggestions!!!
I was accepted into a 2 1/2 year program at the university I work. It's a leadership program for our classified staff. I get to take one class a quarter and in the end receive a certificate for leadership and also receive college credit for my classes. It's going to benefit me 100% because I'll be that much closer to finishing my degree when the program is done. I'm not looking forward for the next 2 1/2 years non-stop studying and preparing for exams, etc. It's going to be tough with two little ones but I'll get it done. (I pray!!!)
Mike is in full soccer season again. This is his 4th season coaching at the varsity level. He is excited for this season because it's the first season he's had the girls from freshman through senior year. I hope they have a great season, they all deserve it. They work really hard.
Benjamin has decided to interrupt mommy's blogging time and is smacking my leg to get me off the computer. I better go spend time with him.
Until next time...

This is scary and I wonder if it is the reason I ended up having an emergency c-section with Zachary 7 years ago!

FIRST BIRTHDAY INVITATION!!!

Ben will officially celebrate his first birthday on July 15th. I can't believe it's been a year already. I remember what we were doing at this time last year and now I look back and see how wonderfully blessed we've been.
Benjamin you've brought so much to our family. We love you very much!

Here are a few recent pictures to prove it.
